Although the Dow has been up in six of the last eight trading sessions I can't find myself getting any bullish feelings. Sure, the market may rally a further bit on some good feelings surrounding the inauguration, but the economic fundamentals are just horrible. The market usually anticipates an economic turnaround six-to-nine months in advance of it happening, so that's why some folks are optimistic about a strong market environment. However, I just don't see that in the cards. I know I've been signing a pretty consistent song but I'll do it one more time – a sustained stock market rally cannot develop until the housing situation is rectified and news in that area continues bleak.
