Amid all the depressing news of late this little item caught my eye. A significant number of people would give up having sex for one year in order to still have Internet access. Quite frankly this doesn't surprise me in the least. The Internet has changed the world and that can't be said often enough. We are now all connected 24-7 and some folks seem to like it very much. People share their most personal (and usually boring) life stories thinking people are really interested. I guess it's a form of cheap therapy. We shop on line and get most of our news electronically. News flashes around the world in a nano-second.
I for one could go without the Internet and I'm old enough to remember life without it. What you don't know can't hurt you is my philosophy. I guess I am feeling nostalgic for the days when Moms were at home to greet their kids after school because the man of the house was earning sufficiently to support her and the kids. I long for the day when doctors made house calls and really knew who you were. You seemed to feel better the minute he walked in the room. I loved the days when you could admire and root for the Yankees for what they were and not just a bunch of money grubbing egomaniacs. I would love to be living in a day when I didn't have to see so much of creeps like Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. But some folks would rather have the Internet over sex. Some people wish they had the option !
