Irma is clearly a mega bitch. She managed to disrupt many lives in the Caribbean and Florida. Damage from the hurricane was minimized by storm surges that were far less than anticipated. In their haste to exploit disaster scenarios the media foretold of biblical flooding much like poor Houston who somehow got lost in the disaster du jour craze. Which brings me to the forecasters who were so off in their prognostications that it's laughable if not for the havoc created. First the East Coast then the West. Then carnage along the West Coast before mega disaster in Tampa Bay. As it turns out the worst of the storm seems to be taking place in Jacksonville which wasn't even mentioned over the weekend. My confidence in the weather services is basement level. And who can possibly not remember those relentless reporters who stood out there in 100 miles per hour winds. There was this little Hispanic girl on MSNBC that was fabulous. I'm sure SNL has a parody of her ready for the fall. So glad that my friends in Florida made it through with minimum disruptions. Also it was a time you could put on the TV without seeing much Dump. That was wonderful.
